GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Campbell County Fire Department’s response this morning to Conestoga Elementary in Sleepy Hollow was a false alarm, the school’s principal confirmed at 10:51 a.m.
Principal Melanie Sylte said the school is undergoing some remodeling and workers were redoing the sprinkler system in some rooms.
“We had put it into test mode and then it went out of test mode, and that’s when it went off,” she said. “But [first responders] came out to make sure everything was safe.”
Students didn’t need to evacuate and alarms didn’t even go off in the building, she said. The alarms were silent at the school but they triggered the fire department’s response.
Conestoga Elementary is located at 4901 Sleepy Hollow Blvd. in Gillette.
