Sunny, breezy conditions to start the week; storm chances to start Wednesday

Gillette will see a typical early summer weather pattern with breezy and sunny conditions and afternoon storm chances later this week.

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Gillette will see warm temperatures this week, alongside a breezy day today and increasing afternoon storm chances later in the week.

From temperatures around 50 degrees at 6 a.m., Gillette’s high will be near 78 degrees today. Expect a southeast wind of 11–16 mph picking up to 17–22 mph later this morning. Gusts could reach speeds of 32 mph, the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, says. Tonight will continue today’s mostly clear skies as the low falls again to around 55. Breezy conditions are expected to continue with a southeast wind of 14–22 mph and gusts reaching 29 mph.

Tuesday will bring the sun and drop the wind, according to the forecast. Sunny skies will push the high to around 81 degrees. There will be a slight breeze from the south of 8–14 mph. Tuesday night will be mostly clear with a low near 56.

Afternoon thunderstorm chances enter the forecast on Wednesday. The day will start similarly to Tuesday with plenty of sun and clear skies. The forecast high is 81 degrees. There’s a 30% chance for thunderstorms after noon, carrying into the evening before skies begin to clear. The low will again be 56 degrees.

Thursday will start with more clouds than Wednesday morning and a higher chance for afternoon storms at 40%. The forecast high is 80, while the low is 56. Friday will rinse and repeat the previous two days, according to the forecast.
