GILLETTE, Wyo. — Campbell County Parks and Recreation will take part in a global drowning prevention event from 9 to 11:45 a.m. June 22.
The World Waterpark Association leads communities worldwide in building awareness around the importance of teaching children to swim, Campbell County Parks and Recreation’s June 5 news release said. The “World’s Largest Swimming Lesson” event showcases the lifesaving skill that helps prevent drowning. Drowning is the leading cause of death for U.S. children ages 1 to 4 and the second most common cause of death for children ages 5 to 14.
The cost is $5 per participant or $10 per household. Memberships are excluded. Registration ends at 9 p.m. June 18.
Campbell County Parks and Recreation’s website announcement said participants will swim separately based on grade.

Campbell County Parks and Recreation pool entry fees will be waived from 1 to 4 p.m. on weekdays and from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on weekends, according to the City of Gillette.
