GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Gillette Girls Fastpitch Association will host its annual Memorial Day softball tournament at the Energy Capital Sports Complex this weekend.
Games start at 8 a.m., with a special ceremony to honor fallen veterans commencing at 10 a.m., according to Ryan Ludwar, vice president of the GGFA and assistant coach for the Gillette Blue Jays.
This year, the tournament serves as the Cowboy State Game Qualifier; if they win, the Gillette Blue Jays will qualify to play at nationals, Ludwar said.
Teams from 10U to 14U are coming to the tournament from all over Wyoming as well as South Dakota, Ludwar said, with players 16U and 18U participating in scrimmage matches.
