(County 17)

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Around $20,000 worth of copper wire has been stolen from a local water servicing company in western Gillette, according to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.

The wire — approximately 3 tons — was reported missing by an employee of Jim’s Water Service on May 15 who noticed around 4 a.m. that someone had cut the lock off the company’s gated area on North Highway 14-16, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said.

As of May 16, the case is being investigated as a burglary and there are no suspects, per Reynolds, who said the case has been passed on to the sheriff’s office investigation department.
