In the presentation, “Bombing Wyoming: Operation Fu-Go and the First Intercontinental Missile Attacks on the United States, 1944–1945,” Dave Marcum will discuss a campaign of incendiary balloon attacks Japan conducted against the U.S. at the end of the war, a Campbell County Rockpile Museum news release said. One of those balloons came down near Newcastle. At least 13 made it as far as Wyoming.

Marcum studies the history of the Transcontinental Airway and the Cold War in Wyoming. He is a graduate of the University of Wyoming, according to the release. He retired from the U.S. Air Force and from Laramie County Community College, where he taught political science courses for over 20 years. He lives with his wife in Cheyenne.
