GILLETTE, Wyo. — Students from Lakeview, Prairie Wind, Rozet and Sunflower elementary schools performed a double header of band concerts May 2 at CAM-PLEX’s Heritage Center Theater.
Instrumental music teachers Cindy Bridges and Brittany Poitra led both concerts.
Fifth graders’ concert
Fifth graders performed “Song of the Fjordes,” “Farm Out,” “Sweetly Sings the Donkey,” “Mary Anne,” “Jim Along Josie,” “Go Tell Bill” and “Skip it, Lou,” as well as one piece that Bridges marked in a special way.
She dressed in a dinosaur costume for the last song: “Tyrannosaurus Rocks.”
Thunder Basin High School student Hailee Jorgensen helped Sunflower’s band class, the fifth-grade concert program said. Students are studying trumpet, clarinet, tenor saxophone, trombone, French horn, flute, alto saxophone, bassoon, percussion and baritone.
Sixth graders’ concert
Sixth-grade students’ selections also included bass, tuba and double bass, their program said. The sixth-grade band performed “Old Blue,” “Minuteman March,” “Frere Jacques,” “This Old Man,” “Polly Wolly Doodle,” “Symphony No. 9” and “25 or 6 to 4.”
The teachers thanked CAM-PLEX staff, classroom teachers, custodial staff, parents and everyone else who made the music programs possible.
