THERMOPOLIS, Wyo. — A Thermopolis Police Department officer was hospitalized Friday afternoon after being involved in a shooting while responding to a call.
Sergeant Mike Mascorro was struck by gunfire and quickly taken to Hot Springs Health before later being airlifted to Banner-Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, the department said in a press release on Facebook.
At the time of publication, Mascorro was reported as being in stable condition and the Thermopolis Police Department states there is no ongoing threat to the Hot Springs County community.
The shooting is being investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and more information will be released by DCI as it becomes available.
