GILLETTE, Wyo. — This morning, the Energy Capital Economic Development Board of Directors recognized a leader of Vision 2040.

Energy Capital Economic Development Board President Tyler Miller and CEO Phil Christopherson gave steering committee leader Jeremy Hayes a certificate of appreciation.

Miller said Vision 2040 is a huge proponent of economic development.

The Vision 2040 Steering Committee published a report April 17 that presented what community stakeholders and subject matter experts who participated in a November 2022 workshop envision for the future of Gillette. The committee coordinated with the Wyoming Business Council to complete a community review, a public town hall and workshop, and action planning.

The report below includes the action plans, starting at page 8.

Hayes said the organization polled subject matter experts to try to keep up with substantial action items.

“Hopefully it’s teeth for groups like this to be able to get funding and have those open conversations,” he said.

Vision 2040 received 3.4% engagement, according to the report.

Gillette residents, especially those who are passionate enough to lobby and partner with responsible parties, who want to see the Vision 2040 action steps come to fruition must push for them, Hayes said April 19.

The committee will have an awareness campaign to highlight the report and action plans through various websites, news media and social media, like the Gillette Vision 2040 Facebook page.
