GILLETTE, Wyo. — Campbell County High School will host free summer music camps for students in fifth through 12th grade, Instrumental Music teacher Cindy Bridges said.

The camp will take place from June 19 to July 4 at the high school, 1000 Camel Drive, Gillette, according to the registration form. Instrument rental will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 15 and 16 at Lakeway Learning Center, 525 W. Lakeway Road, Gillette.

There will be a band camp from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., a handbell or ukulele jam session from 1 to 2 p.m. and a vocal camp and orchestra camp from 2 to 5 p.m., the flier said. The camp doesn’t include lunch, so anyone who plans to attend camp all day should plan accordingly.

Bridges said Campbell County School District music teachers will lead the camp. Homeschool students can participate as well.

Students will have the opportunity to work on reading, composing and mastering music, according to a flier. Since the rehearsal times are long, the camp offers visual art class breaks as well. During the visual art portion of the camps, students will create stage decorations for the final concert, which takes place June 30.

The students will also participate in the Fourth of July parade, Bridges said.

“It is a great program,” she said.
