GILLETTE, Wyo. – The Campbell County Veteran’s Council will be looking to receive $5,000 from the county in Optional One-Percent funding for the first time during the upcoming budget cycle.
According to the council’s application, the money will be used for things like building and maintaining a new website, obtaining promotional materials, advertising, and travel expenses.
While the council states in the application that its main expense comes from the website, the lion’s share of the requested funding, approximately $2,000, will go towards promotional materials like banners, cards, nametags, and clothing.
The request submitted for county consideration during the upcoming budget session is the first with the council being less than a year old. The council is the first of its kind in Wyoming and, as a designated Community Veterans Engagement Board, is one of 150 organizations sponsored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, according to the application.
The council meets every month looking to synchronize serving organizations in Campbell County. It provides access to seven working groups focused on veteran housing and food, education, employment or entrepreneurship, faith-based organizations, legal or government services, and resources and public relations.
