GILLETTE, Wyo.- Here is a brief summary of all things crime that happened in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports from the Gillette Police Department (GPD) and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

Crash, March 21, Highway 59, CCSO, Wyoming Highway Patrol

Deputies responded to a section of Highway 59 near Cosner Road around 7:41 a.m. to assist in investigating a single-vehicle rollover yesterday, Sheriff Scott Matheny said. A 2022 Dodge Ram pickup had been pulling a trailer loaded with three cars when it rolled and came to rest on its passenger side. A 54-year-old man and a 44-year-old man who were in the pickup at the time of the crash were not injured, Matheny said, adding that the scene was investigated by the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Crash, March 21, Highway 59, CCSO

Matheny said deputies were dispatched to mile marker 91 on Highway 59 to investigate a two-vehicle collision around 9 a.m. yesterday. A southbound 29-year-old man in a 2003 Ford F-350 reportedly attempted to pass a 59-year-old man in a 2003 Dodge Stratus when he lost control on the slick roads. The vehicle’s collided, resulting in over $1,000 in damage. Neither party was injured in the crash, but the 29-year-old mah was cited for improper passing, Matheny said.

Drugs, March 21, W. Warlow Drive, GPD

A 44-year-old man was arrested for drug possession after officers located three grams of methamphetamine and paraphernalia in an apartment on W. Warlow Drive around 12:34 p.m. yesterday, Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. Officers had been at the complex investigating a separate crime when they saw the drugs in plain view and secured a search warrant.

Breach of peace, March 21, Echeta Road, GPD

Officers cited a 19-year-old woman for breach of peace after she reportedly showed up at a 39-year-old man’s residence on Echeta Road and began yelling profanities at him around 3:14 p.m., Wasson said. The man reported telling the woman to leave multiple times before calling the police. The woman was also served with an order to show cause for failing to appear in court for MIP.

Fight, March 21, W. Boxelder Road, CCSO

A 29-year-old male inmate at the Campbell County Detention Center was charged with battery after allegedly punching a 50-year-old male inmate in the head and chest following an argument around 3:43 p.m., Matheny said. Video surveillance showed the two engaged in a verbal altercation when the younger man walked by the other and punched him in the head with a closed fist. In total, Matheny said, the 29-year-old threw six punches. The 50-year-old man sustained a small cut above his eye and swelling on his face.

Assault and battery, March 21, S. Douglas Highway, GPD

Officers arrested an 18-year-old woman for breach of peace, assault and battery, shoplifting, and possession of tobacco under 21 after they responded to a shoplifting report at Walmart around 5:40 p.m., according to Wasson. Loss Prevention staff witnessed the woman stealing jewelry. It was found that she stole eyeliner and earrings and pushed a 53-year-old Loss Prevention officer when confronted. A 46-year-old woman who was with the 18-year-old woman refused to identify herself and was trespassed from the business.
