GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Campbell County Rockpile Museum said today that it needs help finding several Dixie Reece artworks for an upcoming exhibit.
Dixie Lynne Reece was born in 1936 in Gillette, grew up on the family ranch about 30 miles northwest of Gillette and graduated from Campbell County High School, her obituary said. She had over 300 paintings commissioned in the U.S. and Canada. Reece died in 2018.
“Dixie was a prolific artist and many of her paintings and drawings were commissioned by or sold to collectors in the region,” the museum said. “We have photographs or published reproductions of many of her works, but would like to see and possibly borrow the original paintings for our upcoming exhibition ‘No More Time For Tears: The Life & Art of Dixie Lynne Reece.'”
Anyone who has one of her paintings or knows where the museum could find her paintings is asked to contact Museum Director Robert Henning at 307-682-5723 or robert.henning@campbellcountywy.gov.
