GILLETTE, Wyo. – Campbell County Health has named a new chief financial officer.
Adam Popp, former financial leader of South Dakota’s Prairie Lakes Healthcare System, will join CCH starting March 20 as the local health organization’s new CFO.
Originally from Houston, Texas, Popp moved to Nebraska nine years ago and fell in love with the region, CCH says, adding that he learned about Gillette and local healthcare through a mutual connection who was very familiar with CCH.
“CCH offers an impressive array of services to the community,” Popp said. “Everyone I met here was great, and I knew I would fit in well with the leadership and staff.
Popp brings decades of experience in healthcare finances to CCH and is ready, despite the unique challenges that not-for-profit hospitals like CCH can present for healthcare financial leaders, the local health organization says.
“You go to the grocery store and see the folks you’ve provided services to,” Popp said. “At the end of the day, a not-for-profit healthcare facility has to be financially sustainable so it can care for patients today and tomorrow, including those who don’t have health insurance.”
Outside of his new position, Popp describes himself as an outdoors kind of guy who enjoys bow hunting and hopes to take up that hobby again when he arrives in Gillette, CCH says, adding that Popp firmly believes he will fit well within the Gillette community.
“There is an independence that comes from being from Texas, and I haven’t lost that,” Popp said. “I think I will fit very well in Gillette.”
Matt Shahan, CCH chief executive officer, said his organization is excited to welcome Popp into his new position.
“His energy, experience, and drive are precisely what this organization needs in its next CFO,” Shahan said.
