GILLETTE, Wyo.- Here is a brief summary of all things crime that happened in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports from the Gillette Police Department (GPD) and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).
Domestic violence, March 16, Gillette, GPD
Officers responded to a Gillette residence around 9:10 a.m. where they ultimately arrested a 23-year-old woman for domestic battery yesterday, Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. She reportedly struck a 25-year-old man in the face and chest and threw a beer bottle at him, striking him in the back.
Drugs, March 16, E. Boxelder Road, GPD
A 28-year-old man was arrested for using and possessing drugs on E. Boxelder Road yesterday around 11:40 a.m., Wasson said. Officers had received a report concerning the man and, when they arrived, a 65-year-old woman allowed them inside the residence. When contacted, the 28-year-old man displayed signs of drug use, Wasson said, adding officers located half a gram of suspected methamphetamine, 1.5 grams of marijuana, and paraphernalia in the residence.
Drugs, March 16, Stanley Avenue, GPD
Officers responded to an address on Stanley Avenue after a 27-year-old woman called to report a medical episode and ultimately admitted to using marijuana around 1:55 p.m., Wasson said. She granted consent to search her bedroom where officers found THC wax and paraphernalia. While they were there, a 42-year-old woman allegedly provided multiple fake names. Officers ultimately identified the woman and learned that she had two warrants out of Florida relating to drugs and was taken into custody. Both she and the 27-year-old were charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
Fraud, March 16, Ironwood Street, GPD
A 21-year-old woman called the police at 6:36 p.m. to report someone accessed her online Walmart account and placed an order for a $270.90 chandelier, Wasson said. The item was reportedly picked up at the Gillette post office on March 16. The investigation is ongoing.
Crash, March 16, Highway 59, GPD
Officers responded to Common Cents after a 33-year-old woman called to report being rear-ended in her 2016 Chevrolet by a 2017 Jeep around 9:08 p.m., Wasson said. The driver of the Jeep reportedly stopped at Common Cents, wrote down a name, and left the scene. Officers located the vehicle on Sierra Circle with front end damage, but attempts to contact the driver were not successful. The investigation is ongoing.
Blackmail, March 16, Clarion Drive, GPD
A 22-year-old man called the police at 11:05 p.m. after allegedly sending nude photos to a woman on social media, Wasson said. The man said the woman began requesting money after he sent the photos. The investigation is ongoing.
