Gillette Grizzlies head to nationals

GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Gillette Grizzlies’ varsity team’s headed to nationals after winning the state title for hockey.

Players attend Campbell County High School, Thunder Basin High School or homeschool, Gillette Hockey Association Scheduler Josie Apodaca said.

To help pay for coaching and team expenses, community members can attend Gillette Hockey Association varsity team’s fundraiser at 6 p.m. March 17 at Bell Nob Golf Course, 4600 Overdale Drive, Gillette.

Gambling proceeds from the event will support the team, a flier said. The event will include a cash bar and appetizers.

The Chipotle-USA Hockey High School National Championships are in Plymouth, Minn., from March 23 to 27, USA Hockey said. Nationals will be streamed live exclusively at USAHockeyTV.com.

Gillette Grizzlies will start off with playing the East Islip Chiefs from New York at 7:30 a.m. March 23, the Illinois Division 2 Team at 5:45 p.m. March 24 and the Northwest Arkansas Ice Hogs at 1:15 p.m. March 25, according to the schedule.
