Participants can register tonight for Gillette’s Feb. 25 skijor derby

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Gillette Skijor Derby will hold its second annual derby at 11 a.m. Feb. 25 at CAM-PLEX’s Energy Downs, 1635 Reata Drive, Gillette.

The event is open to the public.

There are five divisions:

  • Snowboard (Only Snowboarders allowed to enter, no Skiers allowed, $50 per person or $100 per team)
  • Powder Puff (Must be a female rider AND female Snowboarder/Skier, $50 per person or $100 per team)
  • Young Guns (anyone under 17 years old, $25 per person or $50 per team)
  • Classic (Total Team Age of 80 yrs and above, $50 per person or $100 per team)
  • Open Division 1D, 2D (Adults, $100 per person or $200 per team)

Contestants can register tonight from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Railyard, 113 S. Gillette Ave., Gillette, event organizers said. Registration and sponsorship forms are at gilletteskijorderby.com/registration/.

There’s also a waiver & release form to fill out.

The next skijor event in Wyoming, according to Skijor USA’s schedule, is March 18 and 19 at Little Jennie Ranch in Bondurant.
