GILLETTE, Wyo. — Planning is underway for Campbell County Rockpile Museum to design a new, larger museum facility.
Schutz Foss Architects Project Manager Kyle Gillette has proposed spending $45,000 to provide a pre-schematic design effort that would refine the current and projected growth needs of the facility and prepare a plan for the museum layout, concept studies for the building exterior, site concept studies and a projected budget, with inflationary calculations.
Campbell County commissioners would need to approve the budget request, Museum Director Robert Henning said.
Henning said at the museum board’s Feb. 21 meeting that having the information should help the museum secure donations for the new facility. Board Chair Lucas Fralick said he anticipates the board will have input in the design. Fralick said he was anticipating the work outlined in the proposal would cost more money.
Henning has previously said space is limited at Rockpile Museum’s current facility, which is at 900 W. Second St., Gillette.
