LARAMIE, Wyo. — Allyson Fertig has been named the Mountain West Player of the Week, announced Monday by the league office. It is the second honor this season for Fertig, who was also named player of the week January 30.

Fertig averaged 22 points, nine rebounds, three blocks and two assists per game on 20-of-29 shooting from the floor in the Cowgirls’ two games at New Mexico and San Diego State. Fertig opened the week by tying a career-high with 24 points on 11-of-15 shooting at UNM. She also pulled down a team-leading nine rebounds and had three blocks in the contest. Fertig finished the week with 20 points, nine boards, three blocks and tied a career-high with four assists in Wyoming’s comeback victory at San Diego State.

In her last four games, Fertig is averaging just under 21 points, eight rebounds and three blocks per game while shooting nearly 80% from the field. Fertig and the rest of the Cowgirls will close out the regular season this week with a pair of home contests beginning Thursday night against Nevada, followed by a Saturday showdown with rival Colorado State.
