GILLETTE, Wyo. — Coal company Ramaco Resources‘ philanthropic arm has awarded $50,000 to The Food Group Wyoming to help fight childhood hunger in Sheridan County.
“The regions where our staff and their families live are the backbone of this country, and deserve far, far more investment and attention than they receive,” Ramaco CEO Randall Atkins, who chairs the company and its foundation’s board of directors. “We are proud to be a member of these communities, and for this opportunity to give back and support their success.”
The company decided to give The Food Group Wyoming $25,000 in 2022 and another $25,000 in 2023 to help with operations and program development, according to the Dec. 20 news release, which County 17 received today.
“The Ramaco Foundation is dedicated to building meaningful philanthropic relationships in these regions, and strengthening the local social and economic fabric,” The Ramaco Foundation’s president, Evan Jenkins, said. “The organizations receiving these grants are results-driven and have proven records of success, and we look forward to partnering with them and expanding their very valuable work.”
Wyoming Board of Professional Responsibility attorney and vice chair Debra Wendtland also serves on the foundation’s board.
Ramaco Resources, which is based in Kentucky, is developing a mine in Sheridan, which is contiguous to a research and pilot facility focused on the production of advanced carbon products and materials from coal.
