Above average temperatures arrive for the weekend; snow chances return late Sunday

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Sunny and breezy will be the theme today and again Sunday with a break in the wind Saturday, if the forecast from the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, holds up.

There will be ample sunshine today with clear skies and a high near 44. Winds will come from the southwest at 16 to 21 mph with gusts reaching 31 mph. Tonight will see some clouds as the low falls to around 26. Breezy conditions will continue with southwest winds 18 to 23 mph falling to 11 to 16 mph after midnight.

Saturday will be sunny with a high near 39. Wind chills will fall to 20 with a breeze from the southwest 9 to 14 mph and gusts reaching 21 mph. Saturday night will be mostly clear with a low near 23.

Despite being mostly cloudy on Sunday, the forecast high is 40 degrees. Breezy conditions will pick up with a south wind 10 to 15 mph picking up to 20 to 25 mph in the afternoon and gusts reaching 37 mph.

Snow chances re-enter the forecast Sunday night with a 30% chance after 11 p.m. Skies will remain mostly cloudy with a low near 29. Winds will die down from the southwest at 20 to 25 mph becoming west with speeds 11 to 16 mph.

The 30% chance for snow continues into Monday, mainly in the morning. The high should reach 36.
