GILLETTE, Wyo. — With a warm front knocking on the region’s door from the northeast and high pressure to the southeast, a week of “relatively quiet weather” is expected through the weekend, the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, said.
Weather models are forecasting a backdoor cold front to push south-southwest through the region tonight and Thursday, and that will limit temperatures to the 30s, meteorologists said in forecast discussion. The warming trend then continues for Friday through the weekend with sunny skies forecast along the way.
Today will see mostly sunny skies with a high near 30. Expect wind chills to be around 4 degrees as winds come from the west at 7 to 13 mph. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low around 16. Winds will come from the southwest at 7 to 10 mph with gusts to 15 mph.
Skies on Thursday will be sunny with a high near 34. Wind chills will warm from today to 11 degrees as a southwest breeze continues. Thursday night will see mostly clear skies with a low near 23.
Friday starts a three-day trend of temperatures in the 40s with Friday’s high forecast at 41 under mostly sunny skies. Saturday and Sunday both have forecast highs of 40 degrees. Overnight lows will be between 21 and 26, cooling as the weekend wears on.
