(PHOTOS) Art appreciators choose favorite works in Gillette nonprofit’s contest

GILLETTE, Wyo. — This evening, art enthusiasts mingled and reviewed art from across the country that adorned AVA Community Art Center’s walls in Gillette.

The show featured themes of nature landscapes, animals, cowboy culture, still life and more. Mediums included sculpture, paintings, pen, fiber, print and photography.

In a people’s choice contest, event attendees chose their three favorite works of art.

Three Gillette women won: Hannah Mooney, Blanche Guernsey and Breanna Whitlock.

Artist Joan Sowada said she believed the event had a good turnout. It was nice to catch up with friends, she said.

The art will be brought to the CAM-PLEX Energy Hall Jan. 28 for the center’s 21st Annual ART MATTERS Auction and Gala Fundraiser. Proceeds from the event support community artists.
