CASPER, Wyo. — A pedestrian having their vehicle pulled out of the snow was struck and killed by a semi along U.S. Highway 18-20 on Wednesday, according to a preliminary Wyoming Highway Patrol report.
The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. Jan. 25 at milepost 34.5 west of Lusk. Blowing snow and blizzard conditions were present, the WHP report notes.
According to the WHP, an Audi was stuck in the snow in the south ditch off the roadway. Another vehicle was attempting to pull the Audi back onto the road.
The semi was eastbound when it encountered the Audi and the tow vehicle. The semi driver attempted to navigate around the vehicles and lost control on the ice.
“The semi struck the Audi in a T-bone fashion and pushed it several hundred yards before coming to an uncontrolled rest in the ditch. The driver of the Audi was outside the vehicle at the time of the crash and was struck by the semi,” the report said.
Austin Judy, 31, a Wyoming resident, was identified as the deceased in the report.

- 12 in 2019
