GILLETTE, Wyo. — Campbell County’s Friends of the Library will hold a sale of vintage and antique books Feb. 2 to 4 during regular library hours.

The organization will sell about 1,000 antique and vintage books, and prices will be half that of price listings found from various sources, according to the Facebook event’s description.

The sale will include books published earlier than 1950, such as “Museum of Antiquity, a Description of Ancient Life” by Yaggy and Haines, which was published in 1880, which will be priced at $160 in the book sale, down from one seller’s price of $320. Kate Douglas Wiggin’s “Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm” and Harriet Beecher Stowe’s “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” will also be on sale. Vintage books, or those published since 1949, will include “Christmas Stories” by Charles Dickens and “The Oxcart Trail” by Herbert Krause.

Campbell County Public Library System Executive Director Terri Lesley said at the Jan. 23 library board meeting that antique and vintage books typically are sold during the used book sale, which occurred in September 2022. This year, the organization is holding this additional sale event because a water main break flooded the library Sept. 19, 2022, Lesley said. The flooding affected the annual sale’s schedule and logistics.
