Snow possible on MLK Day, but warm days ahead for weekend

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Gillette is in store for some warm days ahead of possible snow on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

With high pressure in place over the region, Gillette can expect to see a high of 44 degrees under partly sunny skies today. It will be breezy with a southwest wind 14 to 17 mph with gusts reaching 23 mph. Winds should pick up tonight to 16 to 23 mph from the south with gusts to 31 mph. Skies will be mostly cloudy.

The wind will continue Saturday at 18 to 23 mph with gusts reaching 32 mph. Skies will be mostly sunny as the mercury rises to about 47 degrees. Cooler air is set to arrive Saturday evening, dropping the low to 25 degrees and reducing wind speeds to 9 to 13 mph.

Sunday will still be warm at 41 degrees and the least breezy weekend day with a southwest wind of 5 to 8 mph. Skies will be partly cloudy leading into a 20% chance for snow after 11 p.m. Sunday’s forecast low is 26 degrees.

Monday is MLK Day, and snow chances rise to 30% for Gillette. The day should be mostly cloudy with a high near 37 degrees. The forecast overnight low is 22.
