C17 Crime Clips for Wednesday, Jan. 11

GILLETTE, Wyo.- Here is a brief summary of all things crime that happened in and around Gillette over the weekend, obtained through law enforcement reports from the Gillette Police Department (GPD) and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

Drugs, Jan. 10, W. Boxelder Road, CCSO

Investigators arrested a man in the sheriff’s office lobby around 3 p.m. yesterday after front office staff notified them that he was potentially under the influence of drugs, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. The man reportedly displayed signs of recent controlled substance use and was arrested after a mouth swab returned positive for methamphetamine, per Reynolds.

Trespassing, Jan. 10, S. Burma Avenue, GPD

Officers arrested a 59-year-old woman for trespassing after she reportedly refused to leave Campbell County Health after being medically discharged around 4:24 p.m., Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. The woman was warned by officers that if she didn’t leave she would be arrested. She continued to refuse and was taken into custody, per Wasson.

Drugs, Jan. 10, Independence Drive, GPD

A 20-year-old man was arrested for use of a controlled substance after admitting to recent meth consumption while officers were investigating a domestic violence report on Independence Drive around 4:47 p.m., Wasson said. The man had reportedly fought with his 23-year-old brother with both sustaining minor injuries. Neither of them wished to pursue criminal charges against the other, Wasson said.

Burglary, Jan. 10, Highway 14-16, GPD

A staff member at Eastside Motors & Rvs called the police around 5:07 p.m. after discovering a safe had been stolen from the business, Wasson said. It appeared that an unknown suspect had accessed the business through a back door on Jan. 8 and removed the safe. Wasson declined to release the value of the safe and said the investigation is ongoing.

Drugs, Jan. 10, Highway 14-16, CCSO

An 18-year-old woman was arrested for possession of meth after occupants in a vehicle reportedly admitted there was meth inside during a traffic stop on a silver Saturn Ion near Gillette Avenue and Highway 14-16 around 7 p.m., Reynolds said. The vehicle was stopped for having a broken taillight. A 23-year-old man admitted there were drugs in the car when a K9 officer arrived on the scene. The 18-year-old woman also admitted to possessing meth and turned over approximately .38 grams.

Drugs, Jan. 10, W. Boxelder Road, CCSO

Deputies charged a woman arrested for a Volunteers of America violation with possession of meth and taking a controlled substance into a detention facility yesterday around 7:14 p.m., Reynolds said. Detention staff reportedly located 4.10 grams of meth on her person during a search as well as a jeweler’s bag with .58 grams of meth on the floor that video footage showed had fallen out of her clothing.
