GILLETTE, Wyo. — Campbell County voters who didn’t vote in the November 2022 general election must notify the county’s elections office by Jan. 30 to remain actively registered to vote.
Otherwise, they will need to complete a new voter registration to vote in the next election, according to a Campbell County news release.
Under Wyoming law, county clerks must purge and update voter registration information on the voter registration system by Feb. 15 each year and notify the Wyoming Secretary of State once they complete the process.
“It’s just a way to clean up our registration system,” Elections Coordinator Michelle Leiker said.
More than 8,000 registered voters didn’t vote in the 2022 general election, she said. The office mailed postcards Jan. 10 to notify these voters that the office intends to cancel their registration.
These constituents should sign and date the postcard and mail it in an envelope to PO Box 3010, Gillette WY 82717 or deliver it to the office, which is at 500 S. Gillette Ave., Suite 1602, Gillette WY 82716. Alternatively, they can call the office at 307-686-1892 or email Leiker at michelle.leiker@campbellcountywy.gov.
“As long as I hear from them, they’ll remain active,” Leiker said.
