GILLETTE, Wyo. — Campbell County Board of Commissioners Chairman Del Shelstad has called for a special meeting to be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 22 in the District Courtroom No. 3 of the Campbell County Courthouse, 500 S. Gillette Ave., Gillette.

The purpose of the meeting is to fill the vacancy for House District 32.

Campbell County Republicans Vice Chair Sam Clikeman was the sole candidate who sought to fill the two-week vacancy, so he’ll fill the vacancy, Shelstad said. Clikeman owns Big Lost Meadery and is a captain for the Campbell County Fire Department.

“This is kind of a formality,” Clikeman said.

Since in Wyoming, candidates can’t hold more than one elected office at a time, Tim Hallinan resigned his term as the representative for Wyoming House of Representatives District 32 the day before he was sworn in as a board member for Campbell County School District, Shelstad said. Ken Clouston, a former Campbell County School District board member, beat Hallinan in the primary election in August for the seat. Clouston resigned from his position on the school board at the Dec. 13 school board meeting.

The 2023 Legislative Session convenes Jan. 10, 2023 and legislators assume their offices Jan. 2, according to state law.

Shelstad said the Dec. 22 meeting will not be video recorded.
