GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Campbell County School District has called a snow day for all county schools except for Wright early Thursday after a winter storm moved through much of the state.

Interstate 90 between Sheridan and Sundance is closed on Wednesday as of 6 a.m., according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation.

Most of Wyoming’s Interstate system, along with many major roads and highways, are closed or under travel restrictions on Wednesday.

The storm closed schools on Tuesday in Cheyenne, and dumped record-breaking snowfall in Casper and Riverton.

The National Weather Service in Riverton has Gillette and the surrounding area under a blizzard warning through Wednesday, with gusty winds and up to 8 inches of snow possible. The high temperature will reach 20 degrees, with wind chill values at minus 8 degrees, they said.

City Administrator Hyun Kim has declared a Level 2 Snow Emergency in the city, effective at 5:15 a.m. today.
