COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Wyoming Cowgirl Malene Pedersen was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week, announced Monday after a stellar outing against Kansas City the prior week. The honor is the first of Pedersen’s career and first weekly honor for a Cowgirl this season.
Pedersen closed her week with a career-high 20-point outburst in Wyoming’s 72-43 win. Pedersen shot 8-for-11 overall and went 2-for-2 from 3-point range in the win. Pedersen also added a rebound and an assist. Pedersen opened the week with a hoop, four assists and a steal in just 13 minutes of action in the Cowgirls’ 80-24 domination over New Mexico Highlands.
Pedersen and the rest of the Cowgirls are off for finals this week, and return to action Dec. 18 at Nebraska.
