Campbell County Public Library System board decides to change meeting time

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Campbell County Public Library System Board of Directors’ meeting tonight included the following highlights:

  • The library board unanimously decided to start meetings at 6 p.m. instead of 4 p.m. Meetings would run up to two hours, provided any member of the public had the opportunity to speak for at least 2 minutes. Some community members have requested during public comment periods at past library board meetings that the board meets later since the 4 p.m. time conflicted with many people’s work schedules.
  • The board approved the child policy without changing the age children need to reach to be able to come to the library unaccompanied. Children who are in at least the fourth grade can continue to come to the library unaccompanied.
  • Board Member Chelsie Collier said the committee on content considerations met on Nov. 11 and will give recommendations when they have them. The scope of the group is to create a framework that library patrons will use to rate books, and individual library patrons can decide based on the books and community members’ reviews whether the books their children select are what they would like their own children to read, Collier said. Committee members are Candice Young, Gail Cruse, Gabby Messick, Amanda O’Rourke, Board Chair Sage Bear and Collier. Their next meeting will be in January, Collier said.
