C17 Crime Clips for Monday, Nov. 21

GILLETTE, Wyo.— Here is a brief summary of all things crime that happened in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports from the Gillette Police Department (GPD) and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

Drugs, Nov. 19, Gurley Avenue and Warlow Drive, CCSO 

A 49-year-old man was stopped at about 10:48 p.m. Nov. 19 in his 2003 black Chevy Silverado near Gurley Avenue and Warlow Drive for inoperable brake light, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. Deputies discovered he was wanted on an arrest warrant for failure to pay child support and that he had 1 ounce, or about 28 grams, of suspected meth and a meth pipe on his person, Reynolds said. The man was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, Reynolds said.

Alcohol public intoxication, Nov. 19, Church Avenue, GPD

Police responded at 4:22 a.m. Nov. 19 to a report that a man was walking from door to door, attempting to get inside a residence, Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. Officers met with the 29-year-old man, who was showing signs of obvious intoxication and had a laceration on his chin, Wasson said. He said the man was found to be hypothermic. The man said he had been outside for several hours, Wasson said. The man wasn’t charged with a crime, Wasson said. EMS transported him to the hospital, Wasson said.

Destruction of property, Nov. 19, Whitetail Street, GPD

A woman reported at 8:49 a.m. Nov. 19 that two passenger-side tires on her 2008 Jeep on Whitetail Street had been slashed, Wasson said. Damage was more than $500, Wasson said. The investigation is ongoing, he said.

Criminal trespassing, Nov. 18 and 20, Smiths Express, GPD

Officers responded at 1:29 p.m. Nov. 18 to a report from a Smith’s Express manager that a 48-year-old woman who was wearing a multicolored skirt, gold flip-flips and a scarf was inside the women’s restroom for about 30 minutes, Wasson said. Since the woman reportedly was rude to the manager when the manager asked her to leave, the manager asked that the woman be contacted and trespassed, Wasson said. Officers found the woman lying in the women’s restroom at Pizza Carrello, he said. The woman said she had no place to stay, and officers transported her to The Waystation and trespassed her from Smith’s Express, Wasson said. The woman returned to Smith’s Express at 6:21 a.m. Nov. 20 and was arrested for criminal trespass and transported to jail, Wasson said.

REDDI, Nov. 20, McDonald’s on Camel Drive, GPD

Officers responded at 11:15 p.m. Nov. 20 to a report that a man in a white Chevy pickup was sleeping in the drive-thru at McDonald’s, 806 Camel Drive, Wasson said. The man, 39, was displaying signs of obvious intoxication, Wasson said. The man performed field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI and driving with a suspended license, Wasson said.
