George Champ Steele: December 16, 1951 — November 12, 2022
George Champ Steele, age 70, died in the arms of his wife on Nov. 12, 2022, in Gillette, Wyoming, after a courageous battle with cancer.
George was born Dec. 16, 1951, to Edwin and Edna Steele in Sundance, Wyoming. He graduated from Sundance High School in 1971.
He is affectionately known as Champ to many friends across the state. He loved to break and train horses, hunt, fish, go to auctions and camp in the Big Horn mountains. Champ retired after many years working for Powder River Energy Co.
He was married to his wife Wanda K. Steele for almost 39 years. Champ had three children, Josh Steele of Wright, Wyoming, Corey Steele (Renae) of Wright, Wyoming, and Brandi Jackson (Corey) of Copperas Cove, Texas. He also had four stepchildren, Tammy Thompson of Gillette, Wyoming, Terry Thompson of Moorcroft, Wyoming, Gene Thompson of Gillette, Wyoming.
He is survived by his sister, Carol Dennis of Sundance, Wyoming, brother, Edward Schleichardt (Carol) of Sheridan, Wyoming. Champ had 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Champ was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Edna Steele, stepson Floyd Thompson of Las Vegas, Nevada, brother, Bill Steele of Boston, Massachusetts, brother, David Steele of Dayton, Wyoming.
Champ was a good man and will forever be remembered as one tough cowboy! The family will have a Celebration of Life gathering on June 17, 2023, in Gillette, Wyoming. More details will be publicized later.

Louise Furman: April 8, 1933 — November 13, 2022
Mass of Christian Burial for Louise Annette Furman will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church with Father Bryce Lungren officiating; interment to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, Nov. 21, 2022 at Gillette Memorial Chapel.
