Time slots available to ring the bells for Salvation Army in Gillette

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Signups have begun for this year’s chorus of Salvation Army bellringing volunteers.

The volunteers help raise money to support Salvation Army services. Two-hour shifts with Salvation Army in Gillette are available from Nov. 16 through Dec. 24, Salvation Army’s website indicated. The Salvation Army Red Kettle Bell Ringing Program welcomes individual volunteers and groups to man the kettle, ring the bells and wish shoppers a joyous holiday season in what’s one of the foremost fundraisers for the organization. Anyone under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult, the event posting said.

Locations this year are in front of Walmart, Albertson’s, Smiths and Walgreens.

Money Gillette raises for Salvation Army’s Gillette branch helps Gillette residents, Gillette Salvation Army Director Jennifer Nell Hartung said.

“We help families stay in their homes and avoid eviction, keep the lights and heat on, and provide nutritious food monthly for families in need,” she said.

Hartung said in October that daytime slots on weekdays are the hardest to fill. Monetary donations can also be mailed to P.O. Box 161, Gillette, 82717, or brought to the office, at 620 N. Hwy 14-16, Gillette. Monetary donations made through the website aren’t as quickly processed, she said.
