GILLETTE, Wyo. — Wyoming resident, photographer, author and tour guide Bob Richard will share the legends and lore of Yellowstone National Park in a presentation at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Campbell County Rockpile Museum, at 900 W. Second St.
In “Yellowstone Country 150 Years,” Richard will share the knowledge he’s gained through the lens of three generations of family history. For decades, Richard owned and operated Grub Steak Expeditions/Tour Yellowstone, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Fred, who gave tours by stagecoach in the early 1900s, according to Grub Steak Expeditions’ website.
Fred told Bob how the area’s mountains and streams got their names. Bob’s father, Jack, introduced him to photojournalism. Many of Jack Richard’s photos are viewable here.
Bob spent many years as a Yellowstone Park Ranger, learning all about Yellowstone’s greatest hidden treasures. Educated at the Universities of Wyoming, Arizona, and California (Fresno), he’s also served as a teacher and school administrator.
