GILLETTE, Wyo. — A previously-reported stolen 2019 Polaris RZR, worth thousands of dollars, was reportedly located in eastern Gillette yesterday morning, according to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
The RZR was recovered on Collins Road by a Sheriff’s deputy heading in to begin his shift around 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 26, according to Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds, who said the vehicle had been spray-painted black and the deputy stopped to check its vehicle identification number.
It matched a stolen vehicle report previously filed with the Gillette Police Department on Sept. 23, Reynolds said, adding that residents reported seeing the vehicle parked on Collins Road since Sept. 24.
The RZR, valued at $15,000, was taken from a residence on Phoenix Avenue around 4:50 a.m. on Sept. 23, according to Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson told County 17 on Sept. 26.
Gillette police responded to the location and took over the scene, Reynolds said.
As of Sept. 27, the investigation is ongoing.
