GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Powder River Energy, or PRECorp, Foundation Board of Directors was able to spread $15,360 in WyoGives donations equally among local volunteer fire departments in the five counties in its service territory.
The foundation announced in a news release Sept. 23 that Crook, Sheridan, Weston, Johnson and Campbell counties’ volunteer fire departments each received $3,072. Campbell County has 56 volunteer staff at its fire stations, the release said.
WyoGives is an annual, statewide online fundraiser that provides local charities a chance to leverage matching funds from entities like the Hughes Charitable Foundation to increase the total dollars raised. It took place on July 13 this year.
“Firefighters go into action for wildfires and other emergencies that affect our communities. We truly appreciate and support our neighbors who selflessly put their lives on the line to keep us safe,” Foundation Executive Director Jeff Bumgarner said in the release. “When the call comes, you respond. You are the best of the best!”
Funds will be used for personal protective equipment (PPE); equipment maintenance, repair, or replacement; coolers for drinking water– or other ways the departments can best use the funds.
