GILLETTE, Wyo. — A Rozet man is in custody after allegedly forcing his way into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and damaging the door this morning, a police official said Friday.
Christopher B. Holcomb, 41, has been charged with criminal trespass, property destruction, and criminal entry after he allegedly broke into a woman’s apartment on N. Gurley Avenue on Sept. 23 to talk, according to Gillette Police Lt. Jason Marcus.
Police were called to the area by a resident who reported hearing a woman yelling at someone to get off of her and banging sounds coming from an apartment around 1:16 a.m., per Marcus.
Officers arrived to find the front door was damaged and, when they entered to conduct a welfare check, found that a closet door was braced against it in an attempt to secure the front door.
A 41-year-old woman was in the apartment and told officers that Holcomb had just left; however, they located him hiding in a closet when they searched the apartment, Marcus said.
The investigation revealed that Holcomb had forced his way into the apartment without permission despite being told to leave several times by the woman, Marcus continued, adding that Holcomb told the woman to be quiet while police were there and she did so out of fear.
Holcomb was taken into custody.
