GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Campbell County Public Library, which is at 2101 S. 4-J Road in Gillette, will open again this weekend, but solely for two special events.
The partial reopening follows nearly a week of repairs and cleanup after a water main broke Monday, pouring water into the library’s basement.
The library’s lobby and Wyoming Room will open Saturday and Sunday for the Friends of the Library Used Book Sale and Ride & Read Car Show. The used book sale will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on both days. The used book sale will run from Sept. 24 to 29. Five dollar bag days will be Sept. 28 and 29.
Friends of the Library has called for volunteers who can restock books on tables and assist with purchases for two-hour shifts on Sept. 24, 26, 28 or 29. To register to help, click here. On Sept. 30, anyone who can help clean up any leftover material can just come in, without registering to volunteer.
Since there wasn’t time for a pre-sale just for Friends of the Library members, those who are members should identify themselves to book sale staff so they can receive coupons and a raffle ticket for a chance to win a Kindle, the library said. They also receive a coupon for 50% off a tote and 50% off a Friends T-shirt.
Anyone who’s not currently a Friends of the Library member can buy or renew a membership at the sale with cash or check.

The third annual Ride & Read Car Show will run from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 24. Car check-in starts at 9 a.m. No other registration is required.
Visitors will not yet be able to browse the library or check out books. The library said it’s forgiving any overdue fines that accumulated during the library’s closure. Holds will be available for pickup once the library fully reopens.
