GILLETTE, Wyo.- Here is a brief summary of all things crime that happened in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports from the Gillette Police Department (GPD) and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).
Theft, Sept. 17, Wright, CCSO
A man reported four 2-foot-by-4-foot solar panels were taken from a remote area of his property, Campbell County Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. Reynolds said the preliminary estimate of the solar panels’ value was $1,000.
Stalking, Sept. 16, near I-90 and Highway 59, GPD
A 58-year-old man was charged with stalking, a probation violation, at about 12:03 p.m. Sept. 16 after a woman reported to police that the man was watching her from outside her home and that he had urinated on her front doorstep, Gillette Police Deputy Chief Brent Wasson said. Wasson said he did not know the nature of the relationship between the two individuals.
Burglary, Sept. 16, Tanner Drive, GPD
A woman told police at 1:37 p.m. Sept. 16 that sometime between Sept. 3 and 11, two rings and $500 in cash were taken from her home, Gillette Police Deputy Chief Brent Wasson said. One was a square, two-piece diamond ring with a silver band, and the other was a three-stone ring with a gold band, Wasson said. Police found no signs of forced entry, and it appeared that the home might have been unlocked, Wasson said. He said the report did not state the rings’ value.
DUI, Sept. 16, West 4-J Road and Sutherland Drive, GPD
At about 11:56 p.m. Sept. 16, police stopped a 34-year-old woman driving a Buick after she made a turn signal violation, Wasson said. Police suspected alcohol use and the woman declined to perform sobriety test maneuvers, Wasson said. She was arrested on a warrant out of Fremont County for conspiracy to commit shoplifting and cited with DWUS, no insurance and DWUI with a child passenger, Wasson said.
Shoplifting, Sept. 16, Albertson’s, GPD
A man told police at 9:42 p.m. Sept. 16 that he had witnessed a woman exit Albertson’s with a cart full of groceries valued at $400 and unload them into a vehicle, which she drove away, Wasson said. Police are waiting for surveillance video footage, Wasson said.
Assault, Sept. 17, Ledoux Avenue, GPD
A man told police at 2:19 a.m. Sept. 17 that he had been assaulted on Ledoux Avenue by three men who left the area before police arrived, Wasson said. He said he had been tased on the neck, and police found that he had marks on his neck, Wasson said. The man said he had been in the area waiting for a woman before the assault occurred, according to Wasson said.
Theft, Sept. 17, Laramie Street, GPD
A woman called police at 11:45 a.m. Sept. 17 to report that someone was in the process of stealing a 250-gallon white propane tank from her property, Wasson said. He said police who responded found a 50-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman removing the tank, which had an estimated value of $1,700. The man was charged with felony theft, Wasson said. The woman was not charged, he said.
DOP, Sept. 18, Meadow Brook Lane, GPD
A woman told police a rock had been thrown through a front window of her home, causing about $400 of damage, Wasson said.
