GILLETTE, Wyo. — If there’s a commotion at Campbell County Health next week, don’t be alarmed; there’s going to be an active shooter drill.

According to a Sept. 14 announcement from Norberto Orellana, CCH public relations lead, Campbell County Memorial Hospital will hold a full-scale code silver, or active shooter, drill on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

The drill will begin at 11 a.m., per the announcement, and will involve coordination with local law enforcement as well as the city and county governments.

“Any activity you hear of going on at the CCH campus that day is only a drill,” Orellana said in an email to County 17. “Hospitals are required to periodically participate in drills like this to ensure our readiness in the event of an actual incident.”

All patients and visitors at CCH will be notified of the drill the day of; Orellana anticipates the drill to be over in 20 minutes.
