C17 Crime Clips for Friday, Sept. 16

GILLETTE, Wyo.- Here is a brief summary of all things crime that happened in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports from the Gillette Police Department (GPD) and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

Property destruction, Sept. 15, Ledoux Avenue, GPD

Officers will cite an 18-year-old woman for property destruction after she apparently borrowed her mother’s car and returned it with a broken window around 2:10 p.m. yesterday on Ledoux Avenue, Gillette Police Lt. Kelly Alger said. The same thing happened the last time she allowed her daughter to borrow the vehicle.

Breach of peace, Sept. 15, Hemlock Avenue, GPD

A 39-year-old woman called the police after she reportedly saw a group of juveniles yelling at an 11-year-old boy walking on Hemlock Avenue around 6:09 p.m., Alger said. The woman had the boy wait in her yard while she told the others to leave. A 14-year-old girl allegedly began yelling profanities at them and was captured on video by the 39-year-old woman. The girl was cited for breach of peace by officers, Alger said.

Drugs, Sept. 15, S. Douglas Highway, GPD

Officers ticketed a 40-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman for possession of marijuana after stopping a 2006 Buick for failing to dim its high beams near S. Douglas Highway and 7th Street around 8:34 p.m., Alger said. A probable cause search was completed due to the odor of marijuana, and officers located nine jars of THC wax as well as a pipe, per Alger.

Domestic violence, Sept. 15, CCSO

A 44-year-old woman was arrested for domestic battery after she allegedly threw a wineglass at a 44-year-old man during an argument at a Campbell County residence around 9:10 p.m., Campbell County Sheriff Scott Matheny said. The man suffered a two-inch laceration on his head, and the woman allegedly admitted to throwing the glass at him after becoming angry when he said he was moving to Montana.

Drugs, Sept. 15, E. 5th Street, GPD

Officers arrested a 63-year-old woman with possession of drugs with intent to distribute after she was originally reported for driving suspiciously in the area of E. 5th Street around 9:52 p.m., Alger said. The woman was reportedly driving slowly in the neighborhood and alleyways while looking at houses. She told officers that she was driving slowly to pass the time. She was reportedly on probation, and officers conducted a search of her vehicle. They seized 9.5 grams of methamphetamine and 21 grams of marijuana, both split into multiple packages. Officers also located packaging material and a scale in the woman’s purse.

Crash, Sept. 16, Northern Drive, CCSO

Emergency medical services transported a 45-year-old man to the emergency room following a two-vehicle crash on Northern Drive around 5:06 a.m., Matheny said. The 45-year-old man had been slowing to turn in a 1970s Chevrolet when he was struck from behind by a 33-year-old man driving a Dodge Ram pickup. The 33-year-old man was not wearing his seatbelt and his face struck the steering wheel, though he ultimately refused medical treatment. The 33-year-old was cited for following too closely and for not wearing his seatbelt.
