GILLETTE, Wyo.- Here is a brief summary of all things crime that happened in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports from the Gillette Police Department (GPD) and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).
Battery, Sept. 14, Camel Drive, GPD
A 14-year-old boy was ticketed for battery after he pushed and punched another 14-year-old boy in the face at Campbell County High School yesterday around 12:38 p.m., according to Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson. There were no injuries reported.
Fraud, Sept. 14, W. Boxelder Road, CCSO
An 85-year-old man didn’t fall for what he believed to be a fraud attempt from New York yesterday afternoon, Campbell County Sheriff Scott Matheny said. The man said he got a call from another man who told him he won $25,000 and requested the 85-year-old provide personal identifying information. The man suspected it was a scam and reported it to law enforcement.
Vicious animal, Sept. 14, Country Club Road, GPD
A 36-year-old woman called the police after her son, 9, was attacked by her neighbor’s dog around 6:30 p.m., Wasson said. The boy had a scratch on his left arm. It’s known where the dog lives but officers were unable to speak with them at the time of the report. Animal control will be following up, per Wasson.
Property Destruction, Sept. 14, Triton Avenue, GPD
Officers responded to Triton Avenue at 8:47 p.m. after a 55-year-old woman called to report two of her vehicle’s tires had been slashed, Wasson said, adding that the tires were valued at $500. She reportedly told officers that her neighbor, a 33-year-old man, was responsible. Officers later contacted and arrested him for interference and property destruction, per Wasson, who said the report did not provide details of his arrest.
DWUI, Sept. 14, S. Douglas Hwy, CCSO
Deputies arrested a 21-year-old man from Arkansas who was stopped between lanes at the intersection of Highway 59 and Boxelder Road around 10:55 p.m. last night, Matheny said. The man was in a gray 2005 Lexus and exhibited signs of intoxication. He was arrested for DWUI after failing field sobriety tests and had a BAC of .111% at the Campbell County Detention Center, per Matheny.
Drugs, Sept. 14, Green Avenue, GPD
A 36-year-old woman was arrested for drug use and criminal trespass after she was found sleeping in a 34-year-old woman’s apartment on Green Avenue around 11:06 p.m. last night, Wasson said. The 34-year-old called the police to report the woman was in her apartment, who reportedly pretended to be asleep when officers arrived. She reportedly displayed signs of recent narcotics use, Wasson said, and allegedly admitted to smoking
