GILLETTE, Wyo. — The deadline is today for independent candidates seeking election in Wyoming to file to appear on General Election ballots this fall.
Independent candidates have until the Secretary of State Office closes to file, according to the Wyoming Secretary of State’s Office. Independent candidates wanting to run for federal, statewide, state legislative or county office must submit petitions signed by registered voters. Details about the number of required signatures and other independent candidate filing requirement are available from the Wyoming Secretary of State’s Office.
In Campbell County, the deadline for candidates to file to run for school board and special districts is also today. Candidate filing information is available from the Campbell County Elections Office.
Voter registration is open in Wyoming. Open voter registration runs through Monday, Oct. 24. Wyoming will then offer same-day voter registration provided people cast a vote the same day they register to vote starting Tuesday, Oct. 25 up to and including Tuesday, Nov. 8, the day of the General Election. People must bring an accepted form of identification in order to register to vote in Wyoming.
Absentee voting for the General Election will open in Wyoming on Tuesday, Sept. 23 and run through Monday, Nov. 7.
