GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Campbell County Rockpile Museum‘s latest collections hunt is for information on veterans of the Korean War.

For decades, the Gillette museum has documented the stories of veterans from or connected to Campbell County, Wyoming. It has an extension collection of information on World War I and World War II, and now they’re asking the community help with Korean War history preservation.

Museum volunteers and staff are collecting images and information regarding service from individuals or family members of individuals who served active duty during the Korean War.

“If you or your family member served in Korea or elsewhere on active duty during the Korean War, we would love your assistance in gathering information on your service or your family member’s service,” the museum news release said. “This could include military branch, service dates, rank, stories from their service, and photographs. This documentation will allow the museum to preserve at least the bare minimum of information about our local veterans and continue to honor their service and sacrifice in the decades ahead.”

Museum Director Robert Henning said Tuesday that it would be helpful for residents who have limited ties to Campbell County and have strong ties to another community to contact a historical society or museum in the other community.

Anyone with information or images to share is asked to contact the museum to set up an appointment with staff who can assist with the donation. Send an email to rockpile@vcn.com or call 307-682-5723.
