C17 Crime Clips for Thursday, Aug. 4

GILLETTE, Wyo.- Here is a brief summary of all things crime that happened in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports from the Gillette Police Department (GPD) and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

Property destruction, Aug. 3, College Park Circle, GPD

A city employee called the police after discovering graffiti painted on the walls of a tunnel in the area of Sinclair Street and College Park Circle around 9:13 a.m., according to Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson. The paint appeared to have been applied recently and will caused around $300 in damage. The investigation is ongoing.

Crash, Aug. 3, Stuart Road, CCSO

No citations were issued in a crash where a vehicle left unoccupied in drive reportedly crashed into a garage door on Stuart Road yesterday around 1:30 p.m., according to Campbell County Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds. A 45-year-old female was filling out paperwork and stepped out to give it to a homeowner but forgot to put the 2019 Ford F-250 in park. The vehicle collided with the garage door, causing over $1,000 in damage, per Reynolds.

Agency assist, Aug. 3, GPD

Two children, ages 2 and 3, were returned to Department of Family Services custody after their mother, a 31-year-old woman, was arrested for a probation violation around 3:18 p.m., Wasson said. The woman was contacted at the request of the Probation and Parole Office at a local hotel and was found to be intoxicated while caring for the two children, per Wasson.

Property destruction, Aug. 3, Butler Spaeth Road, GPD

Staff at St. Mathews Catholic Church called the police yesterday to report one of their office windows had been shot out with a large metal bb, possibly one fired from a slingshot, around 3:53 p.m., Wasson said. The damage was estimated at $990, and the investigation is ongoing.

DWUI, Aug. 3, Gurley Avenue, GPD

A 19-year-old woman was arrested for driving while impaired after she was stopped for a lane violation near 4th Street and Gurley Avenue around 11:21 p.m., Wasson said. Officers reportedly found open alcohol containers and THC wax in the vehicle and took the woman into custody. She was charged with DWUI, open container, possession of a controlled substance, and failing to maintain a single lane of tra
