GILLETTE, Wyo. — Starting July 5, Campbell County Memorial Hospital will keep its main entrance open at all times for general hospital access.

Only emergency and walk-in clinic patients will be able to enter through the emergency department entrance, a hospital news release said.

Greeters will perpetually staff the main entrance, at 501 S. Burma Ave., for general hospital visits. Patients and visitors can receive help at the entrance or call for assistance at 307-688-1539 or use a phone that’s in the walkway from the parking garage.

Hospital administration made the change following a review that indicated moving general hospital visits from the emergency department/walk-in clinic entrance to the main entrance improves patient privacy and building securing and reduces congestion.

“We know this will be a change for some people who are accustomed to parking in the Emergency parking lot,” Chief Operating Officer Jerry Klein said in the release. “We have made it easier for patients to get the help they need with more assisted parking spaces in the garage and better directions for patient loading and unloading at the front.”

Klein said the hospital measured the distance from the parking garage to the main lobby and from the emergency entrance to the main lobby and discovered parking in the garage is 150 feet closer.

On June 14, the hospital published its board-approved 2022-2024 Community Health Needs Assessment, which identified more than a dozen significant community health needs, including access to care, substance abuse and suicide prevention, cancer and chronic disease, maternal health, and domestic abuse. The hospital will develop implementation strategies to address the needs, a news release said.
