GILLETTE, Wyo. — Election season is heating up, and for residents looking to skip the long voting lines at the polls or can’t make it to them in person on election day, absentee ballots will be sent out soon.
Voting absentee means that residents who physically can’t stand in line, can’t make it to their polling locations, or simply want to skip the long lines can still cast their ballots in the 2022 election, according to Campbell County Elections Coordinator Michelle Leiker.
Absentee ballots for the local elections are available to all U.S. citizens who are registered to vote in Campbell County, including members of the U.S. military who are stationed elsewhere, Leiker said, adding that anyone who wants to vote absentee must submit the proper request forms.
Residents may request an absentee ballot by mail, email, over the phone, or in-person at the election’s office in the Campbell County Courthouse, per Leiker.
Requested absentee ballots for the primary elections will be mailed out beginning July 1, and residents can submit their absentee votes for 45 days that closes on August 15, according to Leiker, who said that absentee ballots for the general election will be sent out in September.
This year, she continued, residents can submit their absentee ballots in person at the elections office or they can mail them like normal.
Forms to request an absentee ballot are available on the county’s website.
