Drunk driver flees from crash, hits woman with car

GILLETTE, Wyo.— A woman was reportedly struck by a car while an intoxicated man fled from the scene of a crash last night, Gillette Police said Wednesday.

The woman, identified as a 46-year-old female, sustained minor leg injuries after witnessing a 55-year-old man crash a 2018 Ford into a 2005 Chrysler in the drive-through at Jack’s Liquor around 10:42 p.m. on May 17, according to Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson.

The Chrysler was pushed into the building, causing over $1,000 in damage to an outside air conditioning line and the male reportedly fled from the scene after the female confronted him, striking her with his car as he left, Wasson said.

Officers located the male as he was pulling into his residence and displayed signs of intoxication, per Wasson, who said that the male was taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol.

The male will also be charged with hit and run as well as driving without insurance, Wasson said.
